The first Jubilee Conference of 2012 in the framework of cooperation of YSU and Ministry of Defence of Republic of Armenia
The first Jubilee Conference of 2012 in the framework of cooperation of YSU and Ministry of Defence of Republic of Armenia was held on January 25. The Minister of Defence of RA Seyran Ohanyan and the Rector of YSU Aram Simonyan greeted those present before introducing the reports. Aram Simonyan congratulated the Minister of Defence Seryan Ohanyan and the Armed Forces on that Day and said, “The Armenian Armed Forces are guarantors of our future. We have a powerful and national Army. Despite difficulties, it is the Armenian people that should be in support of the Armed Forces. YSU has a special attitude towards the Armenian Army and appreciates the cooperation with them”. He hoped that the constructive cooperation between the Armenian Armed Forces and YSU will be continuous.
The Minister of Defence Seryan Ohanyan stated that the role of the Army needs to be scientifically justified and that’s why such conferences are of great importance.
The Army formation process continues and its development greatly depends on the fact how we assess the work already done”, said Seryan Ohanyan.
Those professors and students that contributed to the strengthening of cooperation between the Army and the University were awarded during the conference. During the first session of the conference the Candidates of Historical Sciences Hayk Hakobyan, Hakob Harutyunyan, Petros Hovhannisyan made their reports on “The Armenian Army in different historical phases”, and represented the Armenian Army and its operation in the reign of the Orontid dynasty, Artaxias I and Tigranes the Great. The report of YSU lecturer and the Candidate of Historical Sciences Artak Movsisyan was on the Armenian Armed Forces in the 21th century BC.
During the second and the third sessions of the conference on “The National Army of the Third Republic of Armenia” and “The Phases of Formation of the National Army of the Third Republic of Armenia” correspondingly, the Dean of YSU Faculty of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences Edik Minasyan made his report, shortly after the Candidate of Historical Sciences Alik Gharibyan introduced the way of formation of the Armed Forces.
The Colonel of Military Institute named after Vazgen Sargsyan, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Ashot Melqonyan and lieutenant colonel Suren Martikyan made reports on the establishment of the system of Ministry of Defence and the history of military art of Armenian Armed Forces.
Seryan Ohanyan noted that he expected more active cooperation between the sectors of Defence and Education.
Two conferences were held last year on “History and culture against falsification and violence”, and “Education in the context of the security of Republic of Armenia” held in Martakert.
