Armenian pupils of Lebanon will be taught Armenian History with new textbooks. The textbook is going to be assembled in upcoming year. One textbook on History of Armenia will be offered to different schools of the community. This issue was discussed by the deputy director of the Institute for Armenian studies of YSU Mher Hovhannisyan and the Dean of the Faculty of History Edik Minasyan during the business trip to Lebanon, November 9-16. “The discussion was held with local educational leaders and teachers, Armenian history is currently taught in Lebanon Armenian schools by the textbooks published in the second half of the last century that are more complex and extensive. Teachers note that current books lack illustrations and maps which is a very important issue. Besides, these books need some corrections and additions”-said Edik Minasyan. “The pupils of first to third grade will be taught mainly cognitive and patriotic Armenian history. The textbooks will be assembled by the efforts of specialists of the faculty of History of YSU, Institute for Armenian Studies as well as Armenian specialists from Lebanon. The material will be in Western Armenian, classical orthography”,-noted the Deputy Director of YSU Institute for Armenian studies Mher Hovhannisyan.
