An article on current state of  NKAR, achievements during 20 years after the war and Armenian people’s love and dedication to their motherland was published in Ukrainian www.segodnya.ua web-site.

“Millions of Armenians from all over the world are ready to fight for mountainous Nagorno Karabakh. Although little reminds us of war of 1991-1994, life in Nagorno Karabakh flows in the atmosphere of constant military preparedness. The boys of the first grade in school learn how to use gun and the subject of military preparedness is included in school curriculum”,-writes Irina Kovalchuk.

It was also spoken about the achievements in mining sector, about 5 HPP built during 8 years, programs for agriculture development as well as about the companies opened as a result of foreign investments.

“Most of the investments are made by Diaspora Armenians who consider it their duty to contribute to the development of Nagorno Karabakh”, - is said in the article.

It is also stated that NKAR is deprived of air communication opportunity. New built airport is out of the use as Turkey, the ally of Baku, threatens to close the airspace for Armenia and the Director of  State Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan Republic Arif Mammadov, in his turn, threatened to bomb civilian planes flying to Stepanakert.

“You can’t find ruins in Stepanakert any more, the quantity new buildings are increasing. However, there is a city in Nagorno Karabakh that is still in ruins and has not more than 300 inhabitants that are mainly involved in animal husbandry. That city is Aghdam (“White roof”) that was mainly inhabited by Azerbaijanis in Soviet period. The city is located near the ruins of one of the ancient Armenian cities Tigranakert. Artsakh was bombed from “Grad” Rocket station in 1990 from Aghdam that is part of Nagorno Karabakh. NKAR government didn’t restore Aghdam and people of Karabakh used the rest of the ruins as building material.  Ruined Aghdam always reminds us of consequences of any war”, - noted the author of the article Irina Kovalchuk.
